T-Day, The Way We Like It!

It was a great week! Here's how it went down:

My parents came up from California to visit, but their drive was less than safe and exciting. They were going to come up Tuesday, but Highway 80 was closed, so they left the next day at 3:00 am California time and arrive 15 1/2 hours later in Idaho. Usually it is a 12 hour drive, but the had the pleasure of putting on snow chains through Donner Pass and enjoyed a blizzard when they entered Idaho. When the arrived in Rexburg, luckily it was a positive 3 degrees outside.

And here are my parents when we went out to eat at JBs. We were going to go out to a nice restaurant their last night here, but my sister wrote a blog about how she went to IHOP and all I could think about were pancakes the rest of the week! My craving was satisfied when we went to good ol' JBs for some of the best buttermilk pancakes I've ever had. This is just a picture of my parents after my mom told me not to take any pictures.

On Thursday for Thanksgiving dinner, we made a wonderful feast and I am still full from that night! I took pictures of some of the food, but not all. Here's a few things that we had.

John's Fruit Salad:

I won't lie, but this was the BEST fruit salad I've ever had. He put in cool whip bananas, skinned apples, strawberries cut, grapes cut in half, and the best part....

small EXPLOSIONS of pomegranate seeds. Here is a close up blurry picture of them. This made the fruit salad have tons of flavor and added excitement with the anticipation of pomegranate seeds in ever bite! It was spectacular!

Deviled Eggs, a must have.

Sweet potatoes with my sister's favorite recipe. I didn't want to add pecans because I don't like them, but I'm glad my sister threatened me over the phone to do so and it was delish!

Next, other than bagel bites, are my favorite hors d'oeuvres. I took several pictures from different angles because I couldn't decide which one to put on.

Cheese view: These are just salami wrapped around pepper jack cheese, (adding cream cheese is wonderful) holding them together with a toothpick and a pickled onion. Wonderful mixtures of flavors.

Whoever can name this quote, I will give you a dollar:
"Do you always carry your pickled onion's loose?"
"No, they dropped on the floor of the cab"
HA HA HA! Great show.

My bread rolls. I burnt the tops, but that should be no surprise, but I love the taste!

In addition, we had turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, chocolate moose pie, and cherry cheesecake. I didn't take pictures of those, but I still have plenty in my fridge!

Here is just one last thing. Many have been asking me to put up another pregnancy picture, so here is me at 25 weeks along plus 72 hours of constant eating.

I hope you enjoy the pajama pants.

Sorry I didn't put up any pictures of Johnny! For some reason, he isn't in any of the pictures that I took. Sorry for the disappointment. I'll make up for it next time.

  1. Mom looks so miserable, but what is a picture of the parents without Mom looking miserable after telling us not to take a pic of her?
That food is insane! The sweet potatoes do not look appetizing though. They look like orange logs floating around in sewer water. Not my recipe... you guys totally changed it a lot.
Still can't believe you stole my title and opening line. Actually, I can.
